Samsung officially launched their newest flagships i.e. Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 plus and one of the highlights of the launch of these devices is the announcement of Samsung's very own virtual assistant i.e Bixby.

Its no longer news that Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ was launched last week along side Samsung very own assistant called Bixby.

Samsung's virtual assistant Bixby is billed to be the biggest and smartest of them all, expected to beat the likes of Siri, Alexa and Cortana in performance.

The Bixby artificial intelligent (virtual assistant) system is designed to facilitate user's interaction easier with their Samsung devices, Bixby is specifically designed to avoid the complexity of increasingly fully-featured devices.

While Bixby was specifically designed for the new Samsung Galaxy S8 variant devices, Bixby can also function across a wide range of Samsung smartphone devices.

This has been facilitated by an XDA member who has worked a way around the system and has now made Samsung Bixby available to older Samsung smartphone devices as long as they are running on Android Nougat OS.

How to get Bixby to work on your non Galaxy S8 Samsung device

So, how do you get Samsung's virtual assistant Bixby to work on your non Galaxy S8 variant Samsung smartphone/tablets/pads?

Below is a step by step detailed tutorial on how to get this done:

Samsung is set to break barriers this year after last year ended in an "explosively" disappointing fashion.

Leaks of the Samsung Galaxy S8 (on Weibo) was not met with the usual enthusiasm expected of Samsung fanboys but this new leak is set to blow minds away!

The new leaked device is the Samsung Galaxy X1 and it is set to be Samsung's first foldable smartphone!

The Samsung Galaxy X1 had first surfaced on Android Soul and has now also made an appearance on Weibo with its official launch expected to happen in the 2nd half of the year (3rd or 4th quarter of 2017)).

As with the trending tradition of the latest Samsung Galaxy devices, the X1 would come in two models i.e the Samsung Galaxy X1 and a bigger Samsung Galaxy X1 Plus.

The Samsung Galaxy X1 has been given the model number SM-X9000 while the X1 Plus gets tagged as the SM-X9050.

Rumors of Samsung making a folding smartphone has been making the news since way back in 2014 with its codename being "Project Valley".

The rumoured device is said to pack in the latest hardware along with a 4K display as well as featuring multiple form factors.

The device is also rumored to feature a number of biometric authentication systems which includes a fingerprint reader, face reader and a palm reader.

After a series of Samsung Note 7 explosion incidents, Samsung has officially announced the permanent halt of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 productions, asking all Samsung Note 7 users -both old and new users - to switch off the device and return them (to be switched to any other Samsung device or even another manufacturer's device, OUCH!).
Image result
"Taking our customer's safety as our highest priority, we have decided to halt sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7,"
Samsung did try their best to curb the initial damage caused by explosion incidents by globally recalling the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and replacing with the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
After 3 weeks of the first wave of explosion incidents, Samsung relaunched a new line of "Safe Samsung Galaxy Note 7", but
those (safe Galaxy Note 7) also joined the explosion gang, with explosion incidents also recorded.
This is a financially devastating move for the company, but it remains the right move nonetheless as customers' safety should always remain the priority.
Samsung estimated a loss of $1 billion during the first recall but with the permanent halt of production, the loss is now estimated to be up to $17 billion which is attributed of the loss related to the disposing the current Samsung Note 7 devices safely along with compensation to users.
Apple are grinning, Apple are smiling (Schadenfreude mode on fleek, EISH!)
Samsung at this point just have to focus on their next smartphone production: Samsung Galaxy S8 and hope the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge sales hits a height to soften the blow of the loss from the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 misfortune

Samsung's woes this year keeps compounding.
Upon the much anticipated rollout of this year's stipulated flagship device: the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, Samsung most definitely did not realize they had just launched a BOMB (literally)!!!
I mean, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is the BOMB!!! (Pun intended)
New reports has a Florida man making claims that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 exploded while charging it in his car and subsequently set the vehicle on fire!

Samsung galaxy note 7 battery explodes and fires up car
Tech terrorist I say (no humor)
Reports by Fox13 News says the incident happened
on Monday shortly after Nathan Darnacher and his family returned from a garage sale.
Nathan had left his Galaxy Note 7 device in his vehicle's family keep to move some furniture, upon his return, his vehicle had gone in flames!
Quotes from Nathan Darnacher's  explanation on the incident via Facebook below:
"Not the barbecue I wanted on my day off. We go to a garage sale to grab a desk for bonnie get back to the house unload the car leave it running ac on to keep the car cool we were planning on grabbing the dog and Bonnie and heading to petco, I head back out to the car to grab my phone which was on the charger (me and Lydia always fight over the house charger) go to open the door and see flames inside… open the door and it’s engulfed run inside to get extinguisher and of course not to be found yell at Lydia to call Fire Department and well here is the end result…"
While Nathan has no definitive proof to blame his Samsung Galaxy Note 7 device as being responsible for this very dangerous incident, he did point out that the Note 7 was on charge (and according to other previous reports, this leads to the Note 7 exploding).
Nathan further shared a picture of his barbecued Note 7 device which quite clearly buttresses his theory (I dont think anyone should dispute it considering previous reports of the Note 7 serial explosions).
samsung galaxy note 7 caught up in flames
However, Samsung has told FOX 13 news that they are aware of the incident and are working with Mr Nathan in investigating his case.
If you are an owner of the clearly faulty Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphone device, I strongly suggest you take Samsung up on their Samsung Galaxy Note 7 for Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge Swap offer.
This has turned into a bad year for Samsung, I am sure Apple executives are grinning over this epic fail by their sworn rivals (talk of a classic schadenfreude).
The Apple flagship: iPhone 7 is doing quite well and Samsung woes would definitely improve its sales.

Samsung - Two weeks ago - put the much anticipated flagship premium device, the Samsung Note 7 on sale and in that little span of time have recorded a nerve wrecking 35 different cases of faulty phone batteries (mainly explosions).
Samsung on Friday - in a bid to curb the damage (damage control) has issued a global recall of Note 7 and promised to replace every unit of the Samsung Note 7 already sold.
Samsung would this week start swapping all sold units of the Samsung Note 7 with either the Samsung
    Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge.
Samsung on Friday issued an official statement on the proposed exchange of the Galaxy Note 7 devices for customers in the US:

“The US carriers have already halted sales and offered ways for customers who have already purchased the device to get refunds. Now Samsung has announced its own exchange program, which will provide customers with a new device as soon as next week,”

While this is a massive blow to Samsung, I am pretty sure rivals Apple would be throwing a party (because...schadenfreude between both tech giants has been well documented over the years)
Apple is launching the iPhone 7 on the 7th of September 7 and the absence of their usual rivals' device to compete in the market is definitely a welcome development for them.
Fingers crossed as to what Samsung would do with the Note 7s - maybe relaunch is in the works.

Samsung Galaxy S7 And S7 Edge users have been getting frustrated with the amount of unwanted notifications they have been getting from the Samsung Galaxy Apps store.
It is already quite baffling and complicated that Samsung offers its own Galaxy Apps store in addition to the already much used to default Google Play Store.
The frankly useless notifications that comes from the Samsung Galaxy apps store does not help matters.
Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users keep getting ad-like notifications from the Samsung Galaxy apps store, pointing users towards featured apps available in the Samsung Galaxy app store.
These notifications are turned on by default.
However, you can thankfully get rid of these annoying notifications with a few taps in the Galaxy apps store.
You can do this while at the same time keeping on the useful notifications when you actually have apps that needs to be updated.
Enough talking, lets go on to the steps to rid yourself of annoying notifications on your Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge device.

    > Locate the Galaxy Apps in your app drawer
    > Open the Samsung Galaxy apps store
    > Tap More and then Settings in the top right corner
    > Tap the toggle next to Push notifications
    > Here, you can also turn off notifications for app updates if you also want to do that.

After going through these steps, you will not be bothered by Samsung annoying notifications pushing its latest app partnership on you.
However, you will still receive notifications from Galaxy Apps
that are actually useful to you.

Nigeria telecommunications company Globacom a while back launched their GLO 4G LTE services and officially joined the 4G LTE gang!!!

However, while Glo offers awesome 4G services coupled with some pretty amazing 4G data bundles, it is a bit of a letdown that they offer support for the service (4G LTE) only on Band 28.

    Image result for 4g smartphones

This might not seem like quite a big deal until you come to cognizance of the fact that most 4G LTE supported smartphones currently in circulation in the country (NGR) does not support 4G LTE services on Band 28.

It is known fact that MediaTek devices have flooded the smartphone market and most of these smartphones like I mentioned do not support Band 28.

This discovery further buttresses the importance of checking out the features of a smartphone thoroughly to ascertain it meets your needs before slimming down your wallet to acquire it (especially considering the current economic situation in the country).

Having discovered this, I have decided to put up a list of smartphones that DO support the Glo 4G Band i.e Band 28

The above is a list of smartphones supporting 4G Band 28.

However, if you do not have any of these device and use the more popular MediaTek brands such as Infinix, Tecno, Gionee etc, then to enjoy Glo 4G Lte services you have to go get yourself a Glo MiFi device which goes for about bN25,000 (Oh, well...)

If you DO have any of the above listed devices, then you should go ahead without further ado, activate and enjoy Glo 4G LTE services!!!

Hope you find this post educative and helpful, kindly share with friends using the share buttons

Smartphone manufacturers, Samsung has finally launched their first android device to feature the much anticipated iris scanner security.
This feature finally comes on the Galaxy Tab Iris having been expected to debut on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
The Iris scanner feature is an automated
method of bio-metric identification that makes use of mathematical pattern-recognition techniques on
video images of one or both the irises of an individual’s eyes, whose complex random patterns are unique, stable, and can be seen from some distance as explained by Wikipedia .

    Add caption

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris is a mid-
range device but coming with the iris scanner security system gives it an edge over other devices.
    Quoting Samsung :

“The advanced iris recognition technology will solve the hassle of having to use separate devices for bio-metric identification, and envisions making services like income tax filing, property registration, passenger verification as well as passport renewal virtually paperless”

Samsung Tab Iris is a 7-inch device with a 600×1024 resolution display.
It is powered with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB of ram RAM (which is a bit disappointing), the Samsung Tab Iris also comes with an internal storage of 8GB which is expandable by the use of a sdcard.
The device also features a 5MP auto-focus back camera.
    Pricing is slated between $199-220.
Considering the specs, the Samsung Tab Iris is a mid range device with the Iris scanner security feature being its main point of attraction.
This is quite cool though, as now we can be expectant of the feature being on subsequent Samsung flagship devices.

South Korean top tech company and gadgets manufacturers, Samsung has made an official announcement about the acquisition of the United States based cloud service provider "Joyent".
Samsung will according to official statement will leverage Joyent's cloud platform
for the Internet of Things as well as powering Samsung's cloud-based services and software for mobile.

Quoting a written official statement on the Joyent official blog by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Scott Hammond :

“As a result of this acquisition, Samsung will become an anchor tenant for Joyent's Triton and Manta solutions, and will help fuel the growth of our team and the expansion of our worldwide data center footprint.
This acquisition, though, is about more than just adding financial muscle and scale.
Joyent and Samsung share a culture of innovation and
technical excellence, and bring together a set of highly complementary cloud, big data, mobile and IoT technologies”.

Joyent through the acquisition is set to be a part of Samsung's mobile business unit, however Joyent will still be allowed to function as a standalone entity.
Scott Hammond, CTO Bryan Cantrill, and Vice President of product Bill Fine will join Samsung to work on "company-wide cloud initiatives."
Joyent acquisition is just one of many related acquisitions have made over the years.
Samsung acquired" SmartThings" for $200 million back in 2014 as well as acquiring mobile payments service "LoopPay" in 2015 thus leveraging their patented MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) technology in Samsung Pay technology.

Samsung's 2016 did not end as they would have hoped and planned for no thanks to the Samsung Note 7 fiasco.

Samsung are expected to make a big comeback with the Samsung S8 and numerous specs, features and image renders have been making the rounds on the internet.

A new image has surfaced on China's Weibo service which shows a gold variant of the purported Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone.

The image reveals the S8 would come featuring ultra-thin bezels both at the top and bottom with the absensce of a physical home button.

Personally, I feel this might simply be a Samsung fan's own projection of they think the Galaxy S8 should/would look like considering the image looks a lot like the Galaxy S7 edge but Photoshopped.

Other than appearance of the Samsung logo at the bottom (as opposed its appearance at the top on the S7 edge), You would agree with me that this is just like a twisted version of the Galaxy S7 edge.

    What do you think?

Samsung describes Bixby as a “bright assistant.

It is no news that telecom giants Samsung had a very terrible second half of 2016 with credit for that going to the Samsung Note 7 fiasco.
Samsung are however already planning a swift and strong return with the next flagship device, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge  predecesor: Samsung Galaxy S8!
As always with the Galaxy series, leaked specs and features have already started popping their beautiful heads.
Image result for samsung galaxy s8 images
According to leaks, the Galaxy S8 will come featuring a cool 6GB RAM as well as an awesome
256GB of storage! The storage is a massive improvement against the S7 and S7 edhe which comes carrying just 32GB internal storage but expandable up to 256GB via a microSD.
This move puts the S8 on par with the iPhone 7 storage-wise
Samsung S8 is also going to be a 5.5-inch 4K Super AMOLED display carrying onboard Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 835 chipset while also sporting a dual camera module at its back.
Image result for samsung galaxy s8 images
The Galaxy S8 is also expected to come in dual variants, with the second variant being in a 6.2-inch form factor with a bezel-less design, with over 90 percent screen to body ratio in a move to appeal Samsung diehard fans for the Note 7 fiasco.
Other details on design, specs and features are still expected to pop up in the future but rest assured, the S8 is going to be beastly!

This looks to be an "explosive" year when it comes to tech gadgets (Mostly the Samsung Galaxy Note 7), but it seems Apple's flagship device: the iPhone 7 has officially joined the "explosion gang".
Image result for iphone 7 image
An iPhone 7 explosion incident has previously been recorded but was assumed to be a one-off but obviously it seems there might be more to it.
reported, Yahoo news has reported an incident of an iPhone 7 exploding inside an automobile which saw the car being engulfed in flames.
The victim of the incident, Mat Jones according to the report had left his new iPhone 7 under some clothes inside his car while he was out taking surfing lessons, returning to find his car engulfed in flames.
Talking to 7News, Mat Jones said about the incident:
“Ash was just coming from inside the pants which then, once you unwrapped the pants, the phone was just melting inside of it.”
The incident has rendered Mr Mat Jones phone-less and car-less, a situation he definitely didn't sign up for when he bought his iPhone 7 smartphone.
Apple is reportedly aware of this explosion accident and are set to investigate the events that led to the iPhone 7 in question's explosion.
The incident seems to be caused by over heating, as the device was left in the car (parked at a beach) under a pile of laundry.
It is advised - to prevent other explosion incidents - prevent your smartphone from overheating, it is also advised to avoid charging your smartphone at instances when it runs hot.
This incident is however coming at a tricky time for the company, Apple's known rivals over the years: Samsung has effectively removed themselves as competition (at least for this year) with the woes of their flagship device: Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
Apple has definitely benefited from Samsung's woes with a noticeable bump in sales number as Samsung loyalist has moved to Apple. (though this is set to change with the launch of the next Samsung flagship: Samsung Galaxy S8).
However, new competition for the Apple iPhone has materialized in the form of Google Pixels smartphone variants, this is not a time for the iPhone to be exhibiting "explosive" features.

Samsung has officially announced its third Tizen smartphone (first 4G-enabled Tizen smartphone): the Samsung Z2
The Samsung Z2 has been announced in India and rumors of it making its way to Africa first has been confirmed!
It is expected that Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa would get the device first before it rolls out to other continents and regions.
However, this might seem like a great thing until you see the ridiculous specs and price of the Samsung Z2.

    > Display:  4-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels)
    > Processor: Spreadtrum chip clocked at 1.5GHz
    > Memory: 1GB RAM; 8GB ROM (expandable via microSD up to 256GB)
    > Camera : 5 megapixel  back camera and 0.3 megapixel selfie shooter
    > OS:        Tizen v2.4
    > Battery: 1,500mAh
    > Network: 3G, 4G LTE (Cat 4)
    > Connectivity:  microUSB, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
    > Other: Dual SIM

I am trying real hard to highlight a single good thing about this device and I am coming up short.
A 4G LTE enabled device with a 1,500mAh battery? WTF?!!
Camera is nothing to write home about either and a 4 inch display?! (is Samsung having a joke?)
The specifications and features of the Samsung Z2 is uninspiring, in fact it is disgraceful and to think it would take a whooping $70 (N26,500) out of your pocket!!
I definitely would not be getting this or advising anyone else to.
